We group our babies by the color we expect them to be when they mature at 6 months of age.

Markings and Pattern

There are several markings and patterns that hedgehogs may exhibit. Markings are mostly determined by spots, patches or splotches of white on the hedgehog, location and shape determine type of marking. These are basic markings that we group by body markings/patterns and facial markings/patterns.

 

 

Pinto- Hedgehog of solid color has a patch or spot of white.

Uber/High Pinto- Hedgehog with large amount of white patches.

Reverse Pinto- Hedgehog that appears mostly white with a small solid patch.

Snowflake- Hedgehog has high amount of white ticking throughout quills.

 

Split Face- Half of the face is dark, while other half is light.

Wild Card- One Eye is Ruby, One eye is Dark

Bandana- Hedgehog has white at top of face and no mask.

Bandana with Eye Liner- Hedgehog had Bandana with dark eye markings.

 

Based on markings with certain colors there are more names or classifications such as Chocolate Chip (A Chocolate Snowflake).
